Key Programming by Vehicle Make
Every car brand uses a different immobilizer and security system. Here's exactly how we handle each one.
Toyota & Lexus
Toyota and Lexus vehicles use a dedicated immobilizer (IMMO) system that stores a PIN code inside the ECU and the key's transponder chip. When all keys are lost, we must extract the IMMO data or PIN directly from the vehicle's computer before a new key can be cut and programmed.

BMW
BMW has used multiple generations of the CAS (Car Access System) and later FEM/BDC modules. Each generation requires a different tool, data-reading method, and ISN (Individual Serial Number) extraction approach. We cover all of them.
- 1CAS2 (E8x/E9x early): Read CAS2 module via OBD or direct chip; extract ISN and program new key via CAS2 procedure
- 2CAS3 / CAS3++ (E60/E90/E70 era): Read ISN from CAS3 or DME via OBD-II or bench; CAS3++ requires advanced seed/key calculation
- 3CAS4 (F10/F30/F15 era): ISN must be read directly from DME/MSD80 chip; requires CGDI BMW, Autel IM608 Pro, or equivalent
- 4FEM (Front Electronic Module β F20/F30 post-2012): FEM replaced CAS4 on many models; ISN read via OBD or FEM bench flash
- 5BDC / BDC3 (G-series β G30/G20/G05): BDC (Body Domain Controller) is the newest platform; requires BDC dump + ISN calculation via specialized tools

Nissan & Infiniti
Nissan and Infiniti require that the key fob's FCC ID (Federal Communications Commission ID) is verified against the vehicle's VIN number before programming. A fob with a mismatched FCC ID cannot be paired to the BCM β the correct part must be used first.

Honda & Acura
Honda vehicles use an immobilizer system built into the ECM. Programming a transponder key requires writing the key's seed code into the ECM. Older Hondas (pre-2000) use a 4-cut HON58 blade; newer models use HON66 10-cut.

- 2Use OBD tool or key-learning device to enter ECM programming mode
- 3Write transponder seed code into ECM memory

Ford & Lincoln
Ford uses the PATS (Passive Anti-Theft System) β also called SecuriLock. The PCM stores a list of registered transponder codes. Programming requires either two existing working keys (self-learn method) or a professional scan tool to bypass and register new keys directly.

- 3Erase existing transponder codes and register new keys to PCM

GM Β· Chevrolet Β· GMC Β· Cadillac
General Motors has used multiple anti-theft systems: early VATS (Vehicle Anti-Theft System) with resistor pellet keys, then Pass-Key II/III transponder-based, and modern PKE (Passive Keyless Entry) push-button systems requiring BCM programming.
- 1VATS/Pass-Key II: Measure resistor value in key, match or relearn via BCM
- 2Pass-Key III+: Program transponder chip via OBD-II scan tool to BCM and PCM
- 3Modern PKE: Program smart key/fob via GM MDI or Tech2 equivalent
- 4Register all keys in BCM and verify theft deterrent module
Mercedes-Benz
Mercedes uses the EZS (Electronic Ignition Switch) and ESL (Electronic Steering Lock) system. Programming a new key requires synchronizing with the EZS, ESL, EIS, and in some cases the gearbox control unit β all modules must agree on the new key's authorization.

- 2Program new key via XENTRY/DAS or compatible Autel IM608 Pro
- 3Synchronize EZS, ESL, and gearbox (if applicable)
- 4For W204/W212+: also synchronize ESL module separately
Hyundai & Kia
Hyundai and Kia use the SMARTRA (Smart Transponder Authenticator) or SMK (Smart Key) module. Key programming requires entering a security access code via OBD-II. If all keys are lost, the SMARTRA module must be read or replaced and matched to the ECU.
